Earlier this month, a group of children currently staying in our Emergency Shelter had the experience of a lifetime, thanks to Tom Gores, owner of the Detroit Pistons. Through his generosity, our kids were invited to enjoy an exclusive VIP Pistons experience—a night filled with excitement, surprises, and memories they’ll treasure forever.
The adventure began once the kids boarded the complimentary bus to Detroit—their energy and excitement building as the drive went on. After the bus pulled into Little Caesars Arena, the group was escorted to their very own private suite for the game. Everyone was treated to delicious food, snacks, and refreshments to enjoy. It was a perfect treat for all 22 members of the Shelter crew!
We are truly grateful to Tom Gores and the Detroit Pistons for making this evening possible. For these kids and families, who are navigating a challenging time in their lives, this wasn’t just a basketball game—it was a moment of joy, hope, and inspiration that will stay with them for years to come.
Moments like these remind us of the power of community and generosity. Thank you to the Detroit Pistons and Tom Gores for showing our kids they are valued and supported in extraordinary ways.
