HEART – Home Establishment Assistance Resource Team
Shelter of Flint is launching the Home Establishment Assistance Resource Team – HEART – to ensure individuals and families moving to a home of their own have beds and other furnishings that will make their new place a home.
How it works:
When a client is getting ready to move into a new home, we will contact individuals and organizations with HEART to see if they are ready to jump into action and provide the items needed to make it a home. When you agree to participate, you (and your organization, if applicable) will purchase or gather the goods requested and deliver them to the client’s new home. There will typically be about a week’s notice.

Wish List
The residents of the emergency shelter and the individuals experiencing homelessness that our street outreach team encounter have a variety of needs. Our Wish List outlines what the most current needs are, and we welcome donations of these items.

- Emergency Shelter – Items needed on a daily basis for clients at the shelter
- Caterpillar Clubhouse – Toys and activities for children at the shelter participating in our after-school activities
- Supportive Housing – Household needs for clients transitioning to permanent housing
- PATH Street Outreach Team – Items for our street outreach team to distribute to homeless individuals
