For the past 3 years, Shelter of Flint has proudly participated in Coldest Night of the Year (CNOY)— a national, family-friendly fundraising walk that supports local charities serving people that experience hurt, hunger, and homelessness.
This winterrific event is more than a walk; it’s a chance to step into the shoes of those who face the harsh realities of winter without shelter. Participants choose between a 2km or a 5km route, all while making a meaningful impact. The walk ends with a warm meal and drinks as we celebrate all of our hard work!

Why Join the Walk?
Since we began participating in CNOY, people like you have raised an incredible $45,000 to support families staying in our Emergency Shelter. These funds have been life-changing, helping us provide critical housing resources and assistance to those in need throughout Flint. Last year alone, 102 walkers showed up to support our local community. Together, we turned a chilly afternoon into one filled with warmth, hope, and connection.
How do you help us raise money for our clients? You can become a Team Captain or join an existing team at cnoy.com/flint. CNOY is all about peer-to-peer fundraising— recruit your friends, family members, and coworkers to join in on the fun. Encourage those around you to join your team and donate to Shelter of Flint, reach out to their friends, and show up on event day to walk!
How You Can Help
Whether you fundraise, volunteer, or simply spread the word, there are plenty of ways to get involved:
- Register and Fundraise
- Visit cnoy.com/flint to register- either as a Team Captain or to join an existing team (join SOF General Team if you’re flying solo), or simply donate. Team captains are our fundraising leaders! We are aiming to have 25 captains this year
- Spread the Word
- Recruit friends, family, coworkers, and neighbors to join your team and fundraise and help us reach our $25,000 fundraising goal. Tell everyone you know to create or join a team!
- Just Donate
- Don’t want to attend the walk or join a team? You can still donate to the event. Go to cnoy.com/flint & click “donate direct to our official team”
