You can transforms lives—learn all the ways to support.
When you donate to Shelter of Flint or join a giving society, you help families in our community find hope and housing stability. Just $57 can provide a client with 24 hours of shelter and support. Your contribution, no matter the size, is a lifeline for our clients during this challenging time in their life.
Support our Coldest Night of the Year Fundraising Walk!
For the 5th straight year we will be walking in CNOY, a winterrific walk to support our clients. Help us reach our $35,000 goal by February 28th! Learn more about the event & ways to get involved here.
Items We Need Most
We are unable to accept pre-owned items. You can best support Shelter of Flint’s mission by exploring our Amazon Wish Lists & General Needs List. They include everyday essentials—like body wash and bed sheets—that address the urgent needs of clients in our different programs.
Want to help clients furnish their new home? You can have HEART: Home Establishment Assistance Resource Team. When a client is getting ready to move into a new home, we will contact you to jump into action and provide the items needed. When you agree to participate, you will purchase or gather the goods requested and deliver them to the client’s new home.
Can you give families a fresh start? Do you have furnishings you’d like to donate directly to clients?

The 1983 Society, named for the year Shelter of Flint was founded, was created to recognize those who are committed, beyond their own lifetime, to assisting families experiencing homelessness. It recognizes those who have made a financial commitment to Shelter of Flint through their estate plans.
Planned giving helps you to extend your support beyond your lifetime, has potential tax advantages, and allows you to make a contribution greater than what your current budget may accommodate. Options include gifting through your will or trust, life insurance, IRAs, and retirement assets.
1983 Society members receive:
• An invitation to an exclusive reception
• Recognition in a Shelter of Flint publication
• Special communications
• Commemorative token
